BOB MAZZOLINI – Expert Mopar Specialist – Ask A Question

If you like going fast and want to go faster, chances are likely that you’ve spent time searching for someone that can help. After all, building an engine, or a whole car for that matter, is not something to be taken lightly. Let us know things like how much your car weighs and what wheelbase you run. Then we can get into specifics. Maybe you want to use Caltracs in the rear. Maybe you need to stay with stock leaf springs. It’s likely you’re full of questions. How much preload on the Caltracs? Do I need a pinion snubber? Does it make sense to grind my pyramids in front? Should I run 90/10’s? What about 6 cylinder torsion bars? And how should they be adjusted? Do I sit in the car during alignment?

    Hello,
I’m looking to buy a Duster to run class with. I came across a 71 (small block) Duster that states it came out of your shop? Request to know if in facts it was raced prior out of your stable? If so I have some questions about the car. Lastly I would like to say thanks for all you have done for our sport of drag racing.
    Regards,
    James Holder

My son want my 2002 Durango for graduation present. Its a 5.2. The truck is in excellent condition, my son did ask if I could make it more powerful so it would atleast do a burn out.
My question is what would it cost for you to build me a motor that could be turn key that would give this some decent power.
He has kept his word and stayed on the honor roll. I want to do this for him.
I want him to be at least respectable street racing.
Also should I change the transmission/ rear end.
I know this is a costly request but well worth him doing so well in school.
    Thanks Sid

    • Sorry about the late reply, I have thousands of these questions to go through. Our expertise focuses more on classic race cars. If you are local, I recommend SpankinTime, as they are trusted and specialize in late model mopar. Spankintime Motorports – 160 S D ST – San Bernardino CA 92401 – 909-388-2536 – http://spankintime.com/. Again, I apologize for the late reply. Usually best bet in a squeeze is to go to the website of the maker of your control module and see if they have an installer locator for that specific module and they should have all the answers.

On the Pro parts style headers for a Dart there’s little tabs on the collectors that meet up with the little tabs on the primary tubes. What was meant to go on there to hold them together? They fit great, I love them thanks.

  • J. Holder

Hello, Request to know if your shop has a go too guy for the Carter Thermoquad used in NHRA class racing. I was told a while back someone on the West Coast is the man in the know. Thanks in advance.

Hello Mr. Bob, the question I have is
not necessarily race related but I was wondering if I could possibly take a Hemi out of a 2008 Chrysler 300 and slap it in my 2006 Dodge ram that has the 4.7in it, and if so what complications could I expect. Thanks for your time and wisdom!

  • Jeremy

I’m building a 440 as a pro touring that I plan on putting a lot of miles on. I would like it to be a stroker with max emphasis on torque for cruising as I am trying to motivate a 68 coronet. What size stroker would be most reliable? I’m wanting as close to 700 torque as I can get because that’s the limit on the passon 5 speed, also would like a hydraulic roller. It currently has a holley super sniper 1250 if it helps anything.

What block do you have. We use Scat crank and rods. Best quality for the price. Call me to discuss it. 951 787 8783

    • Jeremy

Using a stock 1972 440 block bored .030 and plan on using a stud girdle. Debating between edelbrock rpm heads or trick flow 240’s.

      • Bob Mazzolini

We just did a motor with the trick flow 270 heads. They are a very nice piece. Weve also used the Edelbrock E street heads with a lot of success.

I have a 69 charger 440 with edelbrock heads. I need new headers for my build. What do you recommend. I seen the shorty headers on your website. I want something I don’t have to modify after buying. I did have Doug’s headers before on my 383 but they won’t fit the taller block now.
